SARs - Review Scenarios

Scenario:

A patron cashes out a number of slot tickets at 10am and receives $8,000 in cash. He returns at 5pm (following shift change) and accumulates $2,500 in poker chips. He then enlists another patron to cash out  $1,500 in chips at the Poker cage and then proceeds to cash out $1,000 in chips himself.  What has taken place?

Answer:

Evading/circumventing the Title 31 tracking system, this is a criminal Act.  By structuring the Cash Out, he stayed below the $10,000 threshold for CTR reporting.  Remember, it is not uncommon for the guests to know the CTR threshold.
