SARs - Minimal Gaming

When a customer buys in with a large amount of currency on either a machine or table, bets minimally for a short period of time, and then cashes out.

Examples:
  • A guest purchases a large amount of chips (ie. between $5,000 and $10,000) with currency at a table, engages in minimal gaming, and then goes to the cage and redeems the chips.
  • A guest fast feeds $100 bills into a slot machine, plays a few spins, then cashes out and collects the ticket.  The customer repeats this at the same machine.  This is called minimal gaming.

For the most part, minimal gaming is associated with money laundering.  In other words, the money they are exchanging for gaming chips or slot tickets may have been marked by exploding dye from a robbery, or may have been marked another way by law enforcement, or another group, to identify the money if found.
